Description in English: Three brothers, ignoring their mother’s warnings, enter a dark and mysterious forest, where anything can happen. The youngest, fearful and aware of the danger, tries to warn the two older brothers, but when he has to make a decision he ends up accompanying them. Since they don’t know the way back, they decide to enter the witch’s house, where it smells of food… Tales and legends about witches constitute a living and abundant repertoire, practically universal.

Children often personify their fears about evil in human-like characters. But to gain confidence and overcome fears, there is nothing better than listening to stories in which the protagonists triumph over those creepy beings, a product of the imagination. The character of the child-eating witch who lives in a little house in the middle of the forest appears in the oral tradition of many people (Turkey, Russia, Europe…) and has ancient literary antecedents.

The Tooth-gnashing Witch presents a hybrid character, with narrative elements taken from all these cultures. In this daring adventure, the youngest brother will turn out to be the most sensible, since only he will recognize the witch’s house, be suspicious of the apparent affability of the stranger…, and he will not be carried away by impulse or desire. If at the beginning of the story, it was the older brothers who made fun of the younger for being scared and short-tempered, in the outcome it will be he who, with cunning and intelligence, takes the initiative and faces the seriousness of the situation. The story concludes with a positive ending that conveys the idea that obstacles can be overcome.
