Description in Engish: Little John was four years old, and like all little boys of that age, he was very curious. What he liked more than anything else in the world was to explore, and almost every day he made a new discovery. This imaginary story by Ramón Aragüés is precisely about one of these everyday discoveries that come about at bath-time. Daddy washed the ears, knees, elbows, and feet.

To hurry things along Little John rubbed in the soap. Suddenly, the tip of his finger disappeared. What had happened? His finger had gone inside his belly button! This is how our protagonist discovers he had a hole in his belly, but the finding intrigued him so much that from then on, he was always asking: but, why do I have a belly button? And this is how Little John begins experimenting one of the more amusing childhood stages: that of endless questions.

During this period, young children want to know the why of everything that surrounds them, and as in this case, they go to those who are closest: to dad, their older sister, grandfather and mother… Each one of the members of this particular family, taking advantage of the little one’s innocence, invents a little white lie about the origin of the belly button, until in the end mother reveals the true reason for its existence, and in passing, one of the greatest mysteries of life. The images in this album are the work of the Italian illustrator Francesca Chessa.

An artist with a successful career and who has worked for publishers all over the world (Italy, France, Japan, Switzerland, the U.S.A., Canada). Now, thanks to this collaboration with OQO editora, readers can also enjoy the work of this artist.
