0 out of 5

Description in English: That boy spent hours up in a tree. His mother shouted at him from the window; you’re a terrible boy! And so it was, day after day, every day, all the months of the year, until the boy ended up forgetting his real name. But one strange day in May, the terrible boy found in the top of the tree a small bird´s egg… In the realm of identity, one’s name relates to the questions: who am I? Who are we? The absence of a name, as happens with the main character in this story, has repercussions for his identity, because the boy interiorizes the negative adjective that others call him daily.

The terrible boy, recriminated time and again, only discovers affection when he observes the love that mothers have for their children. In this instant, the terrible boy realizes the affection he never had and that is a basic primary need, necessary for survival. Like Calvino´s rampant baron, Cosimo, the main character in this story keeps at a distance from a world that he does not share; a distance that gives him freedom and a new perspective on reality, people and events, and from here he reconstructs himself.

A book for all time, that provides material for reflection about the importance of affection and points out details that go unnoticed, although in reality they form part of the personality of all individuals. This is the first book that the renown German illustrator Susanne Janssen has edited in Spain. Employing a bichromaticism of reds and blacks, she presents us with a unique imaginative narrative, with foreshortenings and impossible perspectives, and develops with detail the personalities of the characters, combining hardness and sweetness in the characters expressions. Without a doubt a multimedia work of great expressive force and impact that will not leave any reader indifferent.
